Engineering Transfer
Associate of Science degree
Transfer program
The Engineering Transfer Associate of Science degree program at Garrett College provides students with the opportunity to earn the first two years of education that is required for a four-year engineering degree.
Built around a strong basic core of mathematics, the sciences (including chemistry and physics), and computer technology, the Engineering Transfer curriculum also features opportunities to experience an introduction to a variety of forms of engineering. Students gain knowledge of engineering theory through engineering courses and application of theory to real world problems.
Graduates of the program may choose to continue learning at a four-year institution, begin their career as a technician in the workforce, or utilize their education for career advancement purposes.
Career Opportunities
Garrett’s Engineering Transfer program equips students with the knowledge and prerequisites needed to transfer to four-year institutions and earn a bachelor’s degree in a variety of engineering disciplines. Students who continue their studies and earn their bachelor degree find employment as engineers across multiple industries. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 4% growth in overall employment in architecture and engineering occupations from 2021 to 2031.
Students who choose to enter the workforce with their associate degree can find careers as engineer technicians in mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, or even environmental engineering. These positions can earn a stable salary and employment opportunities are expected to grow slightly over the coming decade.
